The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill up to 3 temporary positions at Gateway National Recreation Area. Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May, 2014.
Gateway NRA was established in 1972 as America's first urban national park. Located in the heart of

City, the park extends from Brooklyn and Queens, to Staten Island and Sandy Hook,
new jersey
. Its 26,000 acres include a wildlife refuge, holly forest, ocean dunes and coastal uplands, to former military fortifications, New York City's first municipal airport and the oldest lighthouse in America. Visitors enjoy ocean beaches, organized sports, fishing, hiking, bicycling, nature study and a chance to explore the area's important cultural heritage. The Sandy Hook Unit, where this position is located, is in Highlands, New Jersey.
